Liebherr Brings Game of Cranes Back in 2026
Liebherr's Game of Cranes returns in 2026 with public voting, regional qualifiers, and a five-operator final in Germany in 2027.
September 29, 2026 - Liebherr is bringing back its Game of Cranes mobile crane operator competition following its debut in 2025. Companies worldwide can nominate mobile crane operators beginning Oct. 1, 2026, with the competition culminating in a five-person international final at Liebherr's plant in Ehingen, Germany, in June 2027.
The nomination period runs through Nov. 13, 2026. Nominations must be submitted through an online form by the administrator of a company's MyLiebherr account. Liebherr mobile crane customers worldwide are eligible to participate.
Once nominated, crane operators will receive an email with instructions for submitting a photo and application video. The required materials must be uploaded by Nov. 13 for the application to be considered complete.
Valid applications will be evaluated through both a public community vote and a panel of Liebherr experts. The combined results will determine the overall ranking used to select participants for the regional qualifying rounds.
The competition is open to operators of different sizes of mobile cranes, with Liebherr stating that the deployment demonstrated in the application will be considered alongside the public voting and expert evaluation.
The top five operators in each region will advance to regional events, where they will compete on behalf of their companies. Five Liebherr locations around the world will host the regional qualifying rounds, with participants completing practical challenges based on operating conditions encountered in the field.
Each regional event will produce one winner, resulting in five finalists for the international competition.
The five regional winners will compete at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen in June 2027. The final will test participants in safety, dexterity, and technical understanding.
The winner will receive the Game of Cranes champion title. The competition's top three finishers will also receive vouchers for their companies to use in the Liebherr Shop. The first-place voucher is valued at €2,500, followed by €1,250 for second place and €500 for third place. The vouchers do not expire and can be used across multiple purchases.
The final will be held during Liebherr's Customer Days in 2027. The company expects more than 3,000 crane enthusiasts from around the world to attend. Scott White of City Lifting, who won the inaugural Game of Cranes competition, will participate in the event and share his experience and expertise.
