Liebherr Tower Cranes has expanded its partnership with Tenstar Simulation to enhance crane operator training through simulator technology, with the agreement officially finalized at CONEXPO 2026 in Las Vegas.

The collaboration marks the extension of an existing relationship between the two companies, following earlier work in earthmoving and mobile and crawler crane segments. The latest agreement brings Liebherr’s tower crane portfolio into Tenstar’s simulation platform, with a focus on improving training safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The initial simulator software package includes training scenarios designed for the Liebherr 370 EC-B and 620 HC-L tower cranes. These models are used across building construction, residential development and infrastructure projects. Additional developments are expected to include rapid-deployment cranes and advanced assistance systems.

Simulator-based training is being adopted more widely across the construction industry as companies address challenges related to recruiting and qualifying crane operators. Traditional training on active job sites can be time-intensive and costly, while simulator environments allow operators to develop skills in a controlled, risk-free setting.

The Tenstar system creates a 4D simulation environment designed to replicate the operating behavior, control systems and machine response of Liebherr tower cranes. This approach allows trainees to practice lifting operations and jobsite scenarios before working on live equipment, reducing the number of hours required on actual cranes and lowering overall training costs.

The simulation platform is designed to be scalable, enabling additional crane models and training scenarios to be integrated without changes to the underlying hardware. The system also supports multi-machine environments, where multiple simulators can be connected to simulate coordinated lifting operations and team-based jobsite conditions.

The companies indicated that the partnership reflects a long-term focus on improving training quality and operator competency, while supporting customers throughout the lifecycle of crane operations.
