Liebherr has introduced a significant overhaul of its L series cranes, now specifying crane size in metre tonnes, effective immediately. Consequently, the new cranes are now labeled as the 25 L and 33 L models. These revamped L series cranes come with substantial enhancements to the structural steelwork, an upgraded hydraulic system and a novel modular drive system. Additionally, they feature a standardized radio remote control, a feature across all new Liebherr bottom-slewing cranes. This standardized operational concept facilitates seamless transition between the L and K series, boosting flexibility and reducing training requirements.
Liebherr's latest fast-erecting cranes represent the inaugural deployment of the fifth generation of the company's proprietary control hardware, the Liebherr Control 5. Already adopted by various other construction machines within the Liebherr Group, this control system ensures longevity and resilience across diverse applications. Complementing this hardware advancement is the integration of the Tower Crane Operating System 2 (Tower Crane OS 2), providing a revamped user interface and laying the groundwork for future assistance systems and software expansion. Moreover, software updates are streamlined, and forthcoming assistance systems promise to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
A standout feature across all L series models is the inclusion of the Sway Control assistance system, which mitigates load sway during slewing and trolley travel. Aligned with the ethos of "drive the load, not the drives," this intelligent system actively corrects potentially hazardous movements, bolstering safety and facilitating smoother load handling, especially for less experienced operators. Compact dimensions and robust performance remain hallmarks of the L series, with the addition of features such as Micromove for precise load positioning and Speed2Lift for optimized load handling speed.
Maintaining consistency with its predecessor, the L1 series, the L series retains jib lengths of 25 or 27 meters for the 25 L model and 30 meters for the 33 L model. Furthermore, the familiar options for ballast and transport axles ensure operational flexibility. With intelligent assistance systems, rapid assembly, and user-friendly operation, coupled with its compact footprint, the L series presents an attractive proposition for construction firms, crane rental businesses, and timber frame companies alike. Clemens Maier, product manager at Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH, emphasizes that the L series heralds a new era of crane development, setting the benchmark for future products while maintaining its signature blend of compactness and power.
