Liebherr Shows Truck Crane on Kenworth Chassis

March 27, 2008 • Liebherr showed a U.S.-version of its LTF 1045-4.1 truck crane earlier this month at ConExpo. The 55-ton, four-axle machine is mounted on a Kenworth chassis and is intended for taxi-crane work. Featuring a 115-foot telescopic boom, the crane can be driven on public roads. According to the company, its axle loads are lower than comparable all-terrain cranes.

 

The first unit, which was on display at the show, was assembled at the Liebherr Cranes Inc., facility in Houston, Texas. It was shown with polished aluminum rims, chrome-plated radiator grill, and a long wheel base. In the redesign of this product line, maintaining compact dimensions was important. Both the new LTF 1035-3.1 and the LTF 1045-4.1 are only 20'4” wide with a ballast radius of 9'10”.

 

A modular 31-foot folding fly-jib can be used on both the LTF 1045-4.1 and LTM 1040-2.1, where it can be luffed up to 60°. The new LTF cranes are optionally available with remote radio control.
