Liebherr Delivers 30,000th Mobile Crane

June 30, 2014 - Liebherr reports it has delivered its 30,000th mobile crane - an LTM 1500-8.1. The 500-ton crane was supplied to contractor Grupo DPH of Mexico.
The crane was handed over in the port of Salina Cruz in south Mexico. Grupo DPH has a warehouse at the port that is a distribution center for wind power plant manufacturer Vestas. At the present time the warehouse contains 130 generators and hubs for wind turbines. These will be shipped to wind farms throughout Mexico and also to other countries within Latin America. The first jobs for the LTM 1500-8.1 was to deliver the generators and hubs at the warehouse, shuttling the generators between the distribution site and a nearby wind farm where it erected tower segments weighing 68 tonnes. It will later be used to perform pre-assembly work for oil platforms.
Jorge Fernandez, owner of Grupo DPH, said that Liebherr's reputation and its location in Mexico's ability to provide after-sales service were reasons for purchasing the LTM 1500-8.1
