Liebherr Forms Umbrella Company, Liebherr USA Co.
June 1, 2016 - Effective today, Liebherr has incorporated a number of its companies in the United States under a new company, Liebherr USA Co. The newly formed company will serve as the umbrella company, and the existing Liebherr sales and service companies will become divisions of Liebherr USA Co.
Companies incoprated included are Liebherr-America Inc., Liebherr Components North America Co., Liebherr Concrete Technology Co., Liebherr Construction Equipment Co., Liebherr Equipment Source, Liebherr Cranes Inc., Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co., and Liebherr Nenzing Crane Co.
Excluded companies are Liebherr-Aerospace Saline Inc., Liebherr Gear Technology Inc., Liebherr Automation Systems Co., and Liebherr Mining Equipment North America. Sales and service for mining euqipment in the U.S. will be incorporated into Liebherr USA Co.
According to Liebherr, the company's success and expansion in the United States followed a similar pattern to its success in Europe and other parts of the world. It began in the U.S. in 1970 with the construction of its manufacturing facilities and North American headquarters in Newport News, Va. In 1972, it expanded its production capabilities and began building and designing specialty cranes and hydraulic excavators for different industry sectors. It was later converted into the manufacturing facility for Liebherr's range of diesel electric mining trucks.
Over the years, Liebherr has grown in the United States and formed new companies to fulfill customer needs in different industries. Today, it has transitioned into a mixed sales company with multiple divisions. According to Liebherr, the new platform will leverage the existing know-how and expertise among its divisions. The eight divisions include:
- Mobile & Crawler Cranes
- Construction Equipment
- MCCtec (Maritime Cranes, Crawler Cranes, Foundation Equipment)
- Tower Cranes
- Refrigerators & Freezers
- Components
- Concrete Technology
- Mining (U.S. Sales & Service)
All points of contact and business relationships will remain the same for business partners and all contracts, programs, arrangements, and agreements will remain in effect.
