Lift Stoppage Order Lifted for Colorado Springs Metro Interstate Expansion Project
June 22, 2006 — According to a recent report on www.gazette.com, the Colorado Department of Transportation lifted a stop-work order for rough-terrain cranes working on the COSMIX Interstate 25 expansion project, which took effect June 2 after a second crane accident occurred in five weeks involving a Grove 30-ton rough-terrain crane. Although no one was injured in the June 2 accident, a 30-year-old worker was crushed to death April 23 when the crane he was operating toppled while moving a concrete barrier. OSHA is investigating both accidents.
