Lifting Gear Hire Corp. Offers Safety Seminars

March 28, 2007 • Lifting Gear Hire Corp., Bridgeview, Ill., an organization devoted to the rental, sale, and service of lifting, winching, and material-handling equipment, is offering free material-handling safety seminars.

“Lifting Gear is offering these safety seminars to our customers because ASME rules require that the equipment user be trained in the selection, inspection, cautions to personnel, effects of environment, and rigging practices of the equipment,” said Tony Fiscelli, general manager at Lifting Gear. “Our company offers the seminars free-of-charge, with the exception, in some cases, of travel expenses and supplemental materials, which are charged at cost. Our goal is not to profit from this offering but to ensure that our customers have the best safety training in using our equipment by the use standards set by the manufacturer and as required by ASME.”

Lifting Gear Hire provides interested companies with a menu of options created to meet the needs of the seminar audience. Examples include general rigging practices, sling and hardware safety inspection, and winching applications. When possible, the presentation includes product demonstrations. Presentations always includes real-life “what not to do” examples and a question and answer session.

Izzy De Jesus, inside project coordinator and seminar presenter for Lifting Gear Hire, said, “Every professional presentation is customized to meet the needs of the company and is done on the company site by knowledgeable professionals placed in locations across the United States.”

Bob Sittema of Meade Electric and the Regional Contractors Alliance recently attended a Lifting Gear Hire safety seminar in Whiting, Ind. “The presenters did a great job explaining the hazards to watch for, the different items available for use, how to make the correct choice for the job, and when it's time to take a particular item out of service,” he said. “The slide presentation supported the discussion, and a lot of information was presented clearly in a short amount of time. The handouts and pocket charts I left with have been very helpful reference tools for me.”
