Mammoet Expands Heavy Lifting Fleet to Meet Increased North American Demand

May 25, 2007 • In order to meet growing client demand, Mammoet, Rosharon, Texas, is investing in several heavy lift cranes, hydraulic trailers and other equipment to serve the North American market. "Our clients are planning and executing major capital projects, and we want to make sure we can satisfy their needs for heavy lift and specialty transport requirements," said Bill Halsband, vice president of business development for Mammoet. "We are investing in bringing into North America several high capacity cranes with capacities in excess of 400 tons and many more lines of hydraulic trailers and other equipment to complement our existing fleet."

Currently Mammoet has more than 300 lighter capacity hydraulic and crawler cranes, which include Terex models CC 2600, CC 6800, CC 4800, and three CC 2800; Liebherr LR 1550 and three LR1400 models; and a PTC ring crane, which is Mammoet's own design.

Additional heavy lift machines have started to arrive and will continue to be delivered into North America during the next two years including another PTC DS (1,600 metric ton), an MSG (3,070 metric ton), a Liebherr LR11350 (1,350 metric ton), an RK 8500 (829 metric ton), M 18000, and four each of Terex models CC 2800 and CC 2400-1. The PTC, MSG and RK models are the company's design.

For engineered transport requirements Mammoet currently has more than 250 lines of 360 degree SPMT (Self Propelled Modular Transporters) and 370 lines of conventional hydraulic trailers. Next year, Mammoet plans to add at least another 100 lines of SPMT and 120 lines of conventional hydraulic trailers.

In addition, Mammoet is significantly increasing the number of heavy lift strand jacks. Additional 4x900 metric-ton jacks and tower systems, and an additional 24'x40' super-duty guyless towers.

Mammoet is one of the world's largest engineered transport and heavy lift firms, with 60 locations in 30 countries. With four offices throughout North America, Mammoet continues its plans for further expansion and growth. "We continue to strive to supply our clients with lifting and transport methods that can help them execute their projects in a timely and cost effective manner," said Halsband. "Our growth plans will complement the needs of our clients."
