August 21, 2017 - Heavy-lift specialist Mammoet has moved an over-dimensional vessel component on behalf of chemical firm Shintech in Louisiana.

The vessel weighed 499 tonnes and was transported at the manufacturing facility utilizing double, 12 axle-line self-propelled modular transporters and Mammoet’s CC-8800 crane equipped with Boom Booster.

The tracks, carbody and super structure were assembled and then walked 30 meters to the crane pad. The rest of the crane was then assembled and raised,” a Mammoet spokesperson said.

Earlier this year, Mammoet completed the complex transport of the same vessel via an 8.5 mile route through a sugar cane field which required coordination with 20 different entities. Mammoet reports that the project is ongoing with its scope due to end in 2018.
