Manitou North America Expands Parts and Service Center

May 9, 2007 • Manitou North America has made a major investment in its support department by expanding its parts and service facility in Waco, Texas. The exterior of the 32,000-square-foot facility finished this spring, and work on its interior is now underway. Manitou North America expects the service center to be fully operational this fall.

According to Steve Peacock, director of after sales support for Manitou North America, the center is an extension of Manitou's existing facility, and once complete, will support parts, service, and warehouse needs. With a much larger facility, Peacock said the parts department will have four times more storage capacity than what it had before. Additionally, the center will also serve as a dedicated training center.

Two new employees have been added to the service department already, which Peacock said will increase as time progresses. "This was built with a view to significantly increase personnel," he said. "We have room for growth, and we will probably double what we have now."

While Manitou North America's expanded parts and service center will predominantly serve North America • Peacock said 99 percent of its business will be the United States • the Manitou Group as a whole is beefing up its aftermarket business. In Ancenis, France, Manitou B.F. also is opening its new spare parts logistics center on June 1 near the company's headquarters.

Although the service growth is something new for Manitou, customer support is not. “Customer service has always been important to the group,” Peacock said. “These investments represent our commitment to our customers.”
