Manitowoc Crane Group Exhibits at Brazilian Trade Show

June 13, 2006 — Manitowoc Crane Group displayed a Grove all-terrain crane and highlighted a range of services from its Manitowoc Crane CARE customer service arm at the recent M&T Expo, held June 6-10 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The show took place at the Brazilian city's Imigrantes Exhibition Center and is the premier construction equipment show for Latin America.

The Grove crane on display was a 250-ton (U.S.) rated GMK6220-L (known in the United States as the GMK6250-L). The crane has been one of the top-selling all-terrains in Brazil due to the wide range of work it can handle with its 236-ft main boom. Among the Brazilian rental companies that have added the crane to their fleets in recent months are Sao Paulo-based Locar and Fortaleza-based Makro.

Brazil is one of the most powerful economies in this region, and it is benefiting from strong demand for its natural resources as well the relatively high price of oil,” said Kyle Nape, Manitowoc Crane Group's vice president of Latin American sales. “We are focusing on strengthening our activities in the country and we are making excellent progress. Manitowoc Crane CARE now has a considerable presence in the country which is helping our customers get the most from their cranes. These past few months have also seen us secure orders for cranes from our three major lifting brands • Grove, Manitowoc, and Potain • with some of the biggest names in Brazil.”
