Manitowoc unveiled a new Mobile Training & Technology Center at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, introducing a transportable classroom designed to deliver crane technician training directly to dealer locations across North America.
The modular facility is designed to support workforce development by allowing Manitowoc to provide on-site training programs for dealer technicians without requiring travel to dedicated training centers.
“Well-run training programs help companies maximize their return on invested capital, ensuring cranes run at their optimum level and handle more work. With the Mobile Training & Technology Center, we can go to the student, rather than the student coming to us. Manitowoc is the only manufacturer offering this service in North America, and it’s a reflection of our commitment to aftermarket support,” said Andy Coy, global training manager for Manitowoc.
The Mobile Training & Technology Center is transported on a 53-foot step-deck trailer and deployed on site using hydraulic jacks. Once positioned, the classroom measures approximately 43 feet by 25 feet and can be set up in about four hours.
The Wi-Fi-enabled facility includes multimedia training equipment such as two televisions and a SMART Interactive Board. Manitowoc instructors conduct the training sessions, which can be tailored to specific dealer needs.
The program is designed primarily for entry-level technician training, including apprentice technicians and shop-based personnel.
Because the classroom can be deployed at dealer locations, technicians can receive training earlier in their careers without the cost and time associated with travel. Training conducted at dealer facilities also allows technicians to observe live shop operations and, in some cases, view the specific crane models being discussed during instruction.
The Mobile Training & Technology Center will travel throughout North America and is available to dealers with six or more students seeking training.
In addition to the mobile program, Manitowoc continues to offer advanced training courses at its permanent training facilities in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania and Denver, Colorado.
