Manitowoc to Close Port Washington, Wis. Factory

December 22, 2015 - Manitowoc Cranes announced this week it will close its Port Washington, Wis., carbody plant and cut 80 jobs next summer, reports BizTimes in Milwaukee. Dan Kaltenbaugh, vice president of operations, said staffers will be offered jobs at the company’s manufacturing facility in Manitowoc, Wis.

Manitowoc acquired the Port Washington factory, about 50 mi. from headquarters, in 2006 from supplier ExacTech, and undertook a $7 million plant expansion the next year to enhance crawler crane capacity. Lower works for Manitowoc’s 440-ton Model 16000 crawler crane have been manufactured in Port Washington.
