December 4, 2015 - Bridgeville, Pa.-based Maxim Crane Works completed a challenging dual pick at an energy plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company chose two 450-ton Grove GMK6400s all-terrain cranes for the delicate job. The cranes lifted a 75-ton vessel at the facility.

The biggest hurdle was maneuvering the orientation of the vessel—it was situated north to south, but needed to be placed through a roof hatch aligned east to west. To facilitate the dual rigging, Maxim used a 100-ton beam with a center lug that acted as a swivel to rotate the vessel once it was placed over the roof hatch.

The lift took about a day to complete, and Maxim anticipates re-using this plan to place another vessel at the facility in January.
