December 10, 2008 – Due to the popularity of its mid-size 72ES Series all-electric 4-wheel-drive rough-terrain scissor lifts, MEC Aerial Work Platforms,
The operating system uses the onboard battery power efficiently, powered by eight 6V 375 amp hour batteries. Highlights of this new electric scissor lift series include being drivable at full height, fast cycle speeds for lift and drive, fully proportional drive and lift controls, a 113 square-foot platform work area and an optional 4WD Quad-Trax drive system.
Originally designed for the European market where “green†machines are becoming quite popular, MEC released the mid-sized 72ES series to the rest of the world over the past year. The theory behind the series was to address the age-old issue from customers of needing a machine that is first on and last off the jobsite. The company also learned that more and more construction sites today are looking for a solution to the emissions issue.
Another benefit, besides being versatile and eco-friendly is that there‘s no cost for fuel. Operators can usually charge their MEC electric rough-terrain units using free power supplied by the general contractor on jobsites. Subcontractors can save hundreds, perhaps thousands, of dollars each month on their rental lifts’ fuel costs by going green, simply because the units do not use fossil fuels.
Optional items on the electric rough-terrain units include auto-leveling outriggers, Quad-Trax 4WD, non-marking tires, turf tires, foam filled tires, removable upper control box, platform swing gate, platform work lights, all motion alarm, flashing beacon, automotive horn, air line to platform, and lanyard attachments.
The 72ES and 91ES units are available in the U.S. (ANSI), Canadian (CSA), and European (CE) configurations.
