MEC Looks to Specialty Product Development in Fourth Quarter
November 12, 2008 – Using the economic downturn to its advantage, Selma, Calif.-based MEC Aerial Work Platforms is redirecting its efforts in the fourth quarter to create new specialized products. Five new products designed for specific tasks and end-user needs are in the works, reported Jim Tolle, president of MEC’s sales division. “Some of which are so unique, the industry has never seen them before,†he said. MEC plans to debut several of these machines at The Rental Show in March 2009.
“At a time when many companies are pulling back,†said David White, president of MEC, “we are investing heavily in developing new products, reaching out to new customers, and making some significant strategic changes for 2009.†Concentrating its resources to develop and manufacture unique, “must-have†lift equipment will help MEC’s customers differentiate themselves and be more competitive in the equipment rental market, he said.
The company also reported sales revenue in the first three quarters of 2008 was 5 percent above the same timeframe in 2007. MEC is still producing many of its traditional product lines throughout the end of the year.
