MLE Develops Aerial for Aircraft Manufacturing
December 13, 2006 • Custom equipment manufacturer Man & Material Lift Engineering, Cudahy, Wis., has unveiled the PM54 aerial lift for aircraft manufacturing applications. This custom foundation-engineered, pedestal-mounted aerial serves as a major tool in the fabrication of carbon fiber fuselages, allowing the operators to reach into the fuselage without creating a potential hazard.

The PM54 is capable of 54 feet of horizontal reach and 25 feet of vertical movement.
The PM54 features 54 feet of horizontal reach and 25 feet of vertical movement, and an 8-foot telescoping jib allows for rotating side-to-side. Platform capacity is rated at 800 pounds.
The PM54's platform is equipped with 800-watt lights and removable rails with HySafe fall protection, and features routed to the platform include 110V/220V power, hot water, shop air, and breathing air. The entire machine has a 480V power system and has a battery back-up for recovery during a power outage. Using the Profibus network interface, a Palm Pilot can be used to set speeds, ramping, detail logic parameters, and troubleshoot. The PM54 has a Class II dust explosion-proof rating.
