Cudahy, Wis.-based Man & Material Lift Engineering's PM54 manlift was recently showcased in a business magazine as one strategic product utilized in the manufacturing of the Boeing dreamliner. MLE produced three PM54 Pedestal mounted manlifts for Spirit Aerosystems in 2006 for building the 787 Carbon Fiber Fuselage.

MLE engineers worked closely with the Spirit engineers during design and construction of its new manufacturing facility. It was critical that the installation, startup and electric/hydraulic systems interface with the new facility worked perfectly.

Main features of the lift include 54 feet of horizontal reach and 25 feet of vertical movement. With an 8-foot telescoping jib for rotating side to side, the lift features 800-pound platform capacity and 110/220 volt power to platform. The PM54 also features removable rails with HySafe fall protection, a 480-volt power system, and profibus network interface.

The company also recently added the 4188EX scissor lift to its EX line of battery-powered scissor lifts. The 70”x138” platform has a 1,700-pound platform capacity and a work height of 47 feet with a 4-foot extension deck. The 4188EX scissor lift has a platform height of 41 feet and ground clearance of 8 inches.

The lift features an on-board charger and proportional hydraulic controls. The machine is designed for use in hazardous environments that may contain explosive gases and has a hazardous rating of Class 1, Division 1, Group D. With 48-volt batteries, typical applications include oil and gas facility maintenance and large equipment painting, among others.
