National Crane introduced the NTC80 boom truck at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, expanding its lineup with a higher-capacity roadable lifting solution designed for utility, construction and oil and gas work.

The NTC80 delivers an 80 USt capacity and features a 156 ft five-section main boom. The crane is designed to operate from a commercial truck chassis while maintaining mobility for jobs requiring frequent relocation and repeated setup.

According to Bob Ritter, director of product management at Manitowoc, the crane was developed in response to customer demand for greater lifting capability without sacrificing roadability or productivity.

“The message we heard from customers was straightforward,” Ritter explained. “They needed more lifting capability, but the cranes still had to stay roadable and operate efficiently. The NTC80 was engineered to balance those priorities so crews can move, set up, and get to work without compromise.”

Configured for versatility and transport

The crane uses a trayless modular counterweight system that allows counterweight slabs to be stacked in any order and hydraulically removed. Operators can choose from multiple counterweight packages depending on job requirements and truck chassis specifications, including a 12,000 lb standard package, an 18,000 lb heavy roadable package and a 24,000 lb maximum configuration.

The NTC80 includes four-position outriggers providing a 24 ft full-span setup. An optional single front outrigger configuration is available for work in tighter areas.

Reach can be extended using a 37 ft to 61 ft bi-fold swing-away jib that can be configured at 0°, 15° or 30° offsets. Electric pinning enables faster stow and deployment of the jib.

The crane also features a hoist drum capacity of 22,500 lb with 19 mm wire rope and a single-line pull of 17,160 lb.

Operator cab and service access

An all-new crane cab provides increased interior space and legroom along with improved visibility and operator controls.

The boom tip includes standard features such as an external A2B cable with optional electric-positioned boom lights and an aircraft beacon warning light.

Serviceability was also a focus of the design. Lockable ladder storage is located on both sides of the crane and multiple ladder access points provide technician access around the machine. A pullout catwalk accessible from the operator cab and an integrated hoist access platform support inspection and routine service.

“The NTC80 reflects how we’re thinking across Manitowoc right now,” Ritter said. “Going ‘Big and Bold’ means being deliberate about how we design equipment, where we invest, and how we support customers doing critical infrastructure work. Showing this crane at CONEXPO 2026 is about demonstrating that commitment in a practical, real-world way.”
