NationsRent Continues Support for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

April 19, 2006 • After 15 years of drug addiction, Sadie Holmes turned her life around, using her experiences to help others in her community of Altamonte Springs, Fla., start over. After her family's house was damaged by Hurricane Charley in 2004 and later hit by a fire in August 2005, Holmes could not afford to rebuild. Therefore she had nowhere to base her non-profit work. In a recent episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Holmes family received a new space to continue the work of her non-profit organization Sadie Holmes Help Services, Inc., created to funnel donations to others in need.

 

Hearing of the Holmes' plight, the Extreme Team joined forces with Mercedes Homes, an employee-owned, top twenty national builder based in Melbourne, Florida, to build a large enough home on land next door recently purchased by Sadie's aunt so that the Holmes can live and run the non-profit out of the same building.

 

To help with construction, NationsRent provided included light towers, generators, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, a water truck, golf carts, dehumidifiers, fans, air compressors, and a mini excavator.

 

“NationsRent delivered over 50 pieces of equipment for this build,” said Patrick Duffy, store manager of the Sanford, Fla.-based NationsRent store that supported the build. “Our team members generously volunteered their own time, doing everything from picking up garbage around the location to painting rooms inside the house.”
