New Manitowoc Facility Begins Operations Next Week

September 22, 2008 • Manitowoc's new U.K. headquarters will begin operation next week. In July the company announced it would be consolidating its U.K. operations at one central location and closing its existing facilities in Uxbridge, Middlesex and Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. The company is officially based at the new Gawcott location, near Buckingham, effective Sept. 29.

The facility will centralize the company's activities and further improve its high levels of service. The new location gives the company access to its customer base across the U.K. and Ireland. It will handle sales and service activities for Grove mobile cranes, Manitowoc crawler cranes and Potain tower cranes.

Frans Vanwinkel, Manitowoc's senior vice president of sales and marketing for EMEA, said in July that the opening of the new facility was a vital step in continuing the company's expansion in the U.K.

The new facility has sales and administration offices as well as an extensive Manitowoc Crane Care customer service operation. This will include spares warehousing and workshops offering full service, repair and training facilities to support U.K. customers.
