January 27, 2016 – Newpark Mats and Integrated Services (NMIS), has completed of its new R&D center and manufacturing facility expansion in Carencro, La. The facility will advance product research and development of DURA-BASE advanced composite mat systems, increasing production capacity to ensure product availability to meet increased demand for large-scale power-utility applications.

DURA-BASE mat systems deliver proven performance and cost-savings in power-utility construction and maintenance operations by reducing the amount of mats needed for a project by up to 30 percent. The 50,000 square foot expansion has allowed NMIS to double capacity, guaranteeing inventory is on-hand for speedy deployment to power-utility customers in need of temporary roadways and stable work platforms.

“The completion of this project increases our ability to service multiple market segments including large scale projects in the power utility industry,” remarked Jeff Juergens, president of Newpark Mats and Integrated Services. “At the same time, it’s a huge investment in the development of technologies and products that will help our customers for decades to come.”

In addition to expanding its manufacturing footprint, the facility’s  R&D technology center furthers NMIS’ commitment to developing environmentally sound technology and expanding product innovation. The more than $40 million dollar investment includes a dedicated technology facility which enables product testing and advanced material science research to take place alongside production. The plant supports the continued development of the DURA-BASE system and the recently released EPZ Grounding System.
