NYC Crane Law Upheld for Public Safety
The 2nd circuit court in New York City has ruled that federal law does not prevent from regulating construction sites in order to keep its workers and citizens safe in the country’s most populated city.
The judge ruled against a 2009 federal complaint made by the Steel Institute of New York that claimed NYC’s crane regulations should be preempted by OSHA regulations “because they impose occupational health and safety standards in an area where federal standards already exist.”
