Ohio DOT Makes Moving Mega-Permit Loads Easier
February 1, 2017 - In a recent SC&RA newsletter, it reported the Ohio Department of Transportation has taken steps to alleviate delays in moving mega-permit loads through the state.
In the past, setting up ODOT bridge monitors for loads of configurations of over 13 axles has been delayed, at times, up to two weeks. Effective immediately, ODOT has capped the process at 48 hours.
ODOT also recently enacted a one-mile permit access rule and increased the thresholds by which it automatically issues permits.
