Omega Lift Wins Ontario Business Award

October 17, 2008 • Omega Lift Manufacturing, Bolton, Ontario, has been named one of 12 provincial winners of the Ontario Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) and the Ontario Global Traders Awards (OGTA) by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

“This year more than ever we must give credit to the firms that are investing in innovation, improving productivity and creating jobs in our communities,” said Len Crispino, president and CEO of the OCC. “It always takes hard work and creativity to succeed in business, but in today's economic climate, resiliency and triumph are that much more worthy of recognition.”

Omega Lift, the only equipment manufacturer in Canada with on-site facilities to test and certify forklifts for industry standards, has been selected from a record number of nominees from across the province as the Gold winner in the OGTA Export Market Expansion category.

“In the past 23 years since my father started Omega Lift Manufacturing as a one-man repair shop, our company has grown exponentially,” said Greg Pannia, operations manager. “We have worked extremely hard to create products worthy of the global market's attention and are very proud of the accomplishments of our team as we made our foray onto the world stage. Being awarded the Global Traders Award from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce is an honor and a validation of that hard work.”

Other reasons for recognition include the growth of the company's diverse export markets including Russia, Bangladesh, United States, Columbia and Pakistan, and the development of niche market with forklifts for unique mining and military applications.

The OGTA Market Expansion Category (Product or Service) is one of six award categories. Awards will be presented at a gala event which will to be attended by approximately 1,000 business and political leaders at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Nov. 4.
