Port of Virginia Takes Delivery of Rubber-Tired Gantries
December 31, 2015 - The Port of Virginia has taken delivery of four rubber-tired gantry cranes that will be placed into service to support port operations. The first of the Russian-made RTG cranes will be delivered to the Virginia International Gateway, while the three remaining will be used in rail operations at Norfolk International Terminals.
“We continue to seek ways to improve our cargo throughput in all areas across our operation,” said John Reinhart, CEO and executive director of the Virginia Port Authority. “These pieces of cargo conveyance equipment will do just that and within a reasonable timeframe.”
