January 24, 2007 • Rayco-Wylie Systems, Bessember, Ala., recently brought to market the i3000 Rated Capacity Indicator, an all-in-one device that allows operators to view all parameters of the machine connected to the system in a graphical format.

“The i3000 is designed to be an information center for the crane with advanced features for data collection, display, or remote transmission,” said Frank Beardsley, Rayco-Wylie technical director. “Moreover, the system enables the owner to add such features as data-logging, outrigger monitoring, and range limiting to his graphical display of crane parameters.”

The i3000 functions as a rated capacity indicator, range limiting device, load indicator, outrigger monitor, slew indicator, an anti-two-block system, margin of safety indicator, and data logger. With a 5”x6”x2.5” graphical display that features a backlight, wide viewing angle, anti-reflective window, and built-in bar graph, the i3000 helps to maximize productivity. Load inputs can come from pressure sensors, tension links, load pins, or any strain gauge device, as the i3000 is compatible with most sensors.

Other key features include hoist rope overload protection, motion cut option, and built-in display of tared value. A self-diagnostics system warns the operator of any system failure with audio and visual alarms. A sealed touch sensitive control panel is used for all password-protected calibration routines, no additional device is needed.

On the technical side, the i3000 can operate from -20° C to +70° C on a supply voltage of 11 to 36 VDC. The i3000 reports with an accuracy of ±3.75% SWL while the memory capacity is 10,000 load/radius curves. The i3000 also sports six analog inputs, four analog outputs, 17 digital inputs, and five relay outputs.
