Ritchie Bros.’ Fort Worth Auction Sells $57 Million

March 19, 2018 - Ritchie Bros.’ first Fort Worth, Texas, auction of the year sold more than 3,750 pieces of equipment in two days. The sales totaled more than $57 million.  

More than 5,200 people from 62 countries registered to bid in the March 13 – 14, 2018, auction. More than 3,800 of them registered to bid online.

U.S. buyers purchased 91% of the equipment, including 48% purchased by Texas buyers. International buyers from countries such as Mexico, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates purchased 9% of the equipment. Online buyers purchased 57%.  

"We had huge attendance for our Fort Worth auction this week and saw strong equipment pricing across the board, with particularly strong pricing for yellow iron," said Bill Hogan, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. "Construction equipment continues to sell extremely well this year, especially late-model gear. We feel confident that we will continue to see the positive pricing trend in our upcoming IronPlanet weekly auctions, including a big two-day event next week, as well as our onsite events around the world. Ritchie Bros. sold equipment for 590+ owners in the Fort Worth auction. Highlights included 360+ truck tractors, 335 trailers, 145+ aerial work platforms, 110+ excavators, 135+ compactors, 100 skid steers, 70+ loader backhoes, 45+ dump trucks, 65+ loaders, and 50+ dozers. All items were sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.

Cranes sold at the auction included two Terex RT780 80-ton 4x4x4 rough terrain cranes sold for a combined US$300,000.
