RSC's coloring contest involves kids in the company's safety culture.
September 28, 2007 • Scottsdale, Ariz.-based RSC Equipment Rental has involved its employees' families to promote its safety culture, one of the company's top priorities. Children and grandchildren of RSC's more than 5,300 employees were invited to participate in the first ever “Work the Safe Way Everyday” kids' coloring contest. Winners received gift cards and the honor of having their drawings featured in a company safety calendar.

“Safety is a top priority at RSC, and important to our employees, customers and their families,” said Erik Olsson, president and CEO. “We wanted to get the children involved in a fun and challenging way, as well as get everyone talking about what safety means. We had a tremendous response and are very proud of all the children.”

RSC received 248 creative drawings highlighting the importance of safety from all over North America, with entrants ranging in age from 3 to 16. Fourteen winners in various safety categories were honored, with winning artists receiving $100 gift cards. Their drawings are also featured in a 2008 company calendar. More than 200,000 copies of the calendar have been printed for distribution throughout RSC's more than 465 stores and as an insert in 14 different construction industry trade magazines.

The calendar is available free online. To view the calendar, all contest drawings, or request a copy, go to www.RSCrental.com/coloring_contest.
