Ryan Companies Adds Liebherr HS 8300.2 to Florida Quarry Fleet
Ryan Incorporated Mining adds a Liebherr HS 8300.2 dragline to support aggregate production at its Florida quarry.
June 22, 2026 - Ryan Incorporated Mining has expanded its fleet at Star Quarries in South Bay, Florida, with the addition of a Liebherr HS 8300.2 dragline as the company works to increase aggregate production capacity.
Star Quarries, a subsidiary of Ryan Incorporated Mining, produces more than one million tons of material annually, including limestone, shore rip rap and concrete screenings. The quarry serves the South Florida construction market and has continued to grow production to meet regional demand for construction aggregates.
According to the company, the fleet expansion was driven by the need for a machine capable of supporting higher production volumes while maintaining reliable operation. Ryan Incorporated Mining selected the Liebherr HS 8300.2 dragline to support excavation activities at the quarry.
“We’re excited to modernize our fleet with the Liebherr HS 8300.2. This purchase marks one step taken for Ryan Mining to move toward larger excavation capabilities and projects,” said Patrick Ryan, president of Ryan Incorporated Mining.
The HS 8300.2 is one of Liebherr’s largest duty cycle crawler cranes and is designed for heavy-duty material handling and high-volume excavation applications. The machine can be configured with large-capacity dragline buckets and features a steel structure designed for extended service life.
Ryan said reliability was a key consideration in the purchase decision.
“When it comes to managing a quarry inventory, excavation is nearly always the primary bottleneck. Having a reliable machine that can keep you digging is one key to being successful,” Ryan said.
The machine includes Liebherr’s Pactronic hybrid drive system, which captures and reuses energy generated during operation. According to Liebherr, the system can provide additional power during excavation while helping reduce fuel consumption and improve operating efficiency. The HS 8300.2 also incorporates a diesel engine designed specifically for the HS series, contributing to increased hydraulic power and machine performance.
Founded in 1884, The Ryan Companies operates in multiple sectors, including mining, and maintains locations throughout the United States. The addition of the HS 8300.2 marks the first Liebherr machine added to Ryan Mining’s fleet.
The new dragline will support continuous excavation operations at Star Quarries, where maintaining production and inventory flow remains a priority as demand for construction aggregates continues across the South Florida market.
