SC&RA Recognizes Member Accomplishments in Annual Conference Awards Presentations

 

April 29, 2015 - SC&RA recognized many member companies in awards presentations during its 2015 annual conference earlier this month in Carlsbad, Calif. Awards were presented for membership recruitment; transportation safety; crane and rigging safety; zero accidents; and crane and rigging safety improvement.

 

The President’s Award was given to three member companies, each of which recruited two new members within the past year. Those companies are Bennett International Group, McDonough, Ga.; Link-Belt Construction Equipment Co., Lexington, Ky.; and Python America, Hazel Crest, Ill.

 

Fleet Safety Awards in two categories and Fleet Safety Improvement awards are part of SC&RA’s ongoing efforts to recognize member companies that exemplify a commitment to safe driving. Seven member companies received a Fleet Safety Award for having the lowest accident frequency rate in different seven mileage categories and/or an Accident Frequency Rate of less than 0.45 during all of 2014. They are:

Nine member companies received a Fleet Safety award for obtaining an accident frequency rate of less than 0.45 during all of 2014:

Six member companies earned a Fleet Safety Improvement award by showing a reduction in their accident frequency rate for miles traveled, compared to their previous year accident frequency rate :

  • Bragg Cos.

  • George Young Co. – Swedesboro, N.J.

  • Maxim Crane Works L.P.

  • McTyre Trucking

  • Superior Transportation Inc.

 

Winners of annual awards for Crane & Rigging Safety, Zero Accidents, and Crane & Rigging Safety Improvement were also honored. The contests are part of SC&RA’s ongoing efforts to recognize member companies that exemplify a commitment to workplace safety. Twenty-six member companies won a Crane & Rigging Safety award for superior safety records of achieving an incident rate of less than or equal to 2.3 plus an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 1.0 or less:


Eleven member companies received the Crane & Rigging Zero Accidents Award because they did not have a single recordable accident or injury in the past year:

Seven member companies earned a Crane & Rigging Safety Improvement award by showing reduced incidence rate over the previous year’s contest entry:

  • AmQuip Crane Rental LLC

  • Bragg Cos.

  • Chellino Crane Inc.

  • CJ Drilling Inc.

  • Essex Crane Rental Corp.

  • Maxim Crane Works, L.P.

  • Mountain Crane Service

Four professional drivers from three companies were presented the Million Miler Safety award, and eleven drivers from five companies received the new Driver Safety award.  Million Miler Safety award recipients each accumulated a minimum of one million consecutive miles of safe driving within the industry:

  • Fred Durbin, Landstar Transportation Logistics Inc.
  • Frank Guglielmo and Mark Hawse, Miller Transfer, Rootstown, Ohio
  • John Murray, Superior Transportation Inc.

 

The Driver Safety award recipients each accumulated five years of accident-free driving:

  • John Russell, Bragg Cos.
  • Justin Clark and Jeffery Ginter, Chellino Crane Inc.
  • Daniel Earnes, Josh Foster, Dean Gaus, and Michael Shavonis, Precision Heavy Haul Inc., Tolleson, Ariz.
  • Gregory Aguglia, Dan Haswell, and Michael Nichols, Silk Road Transport Inc., Arkport, N.Y.
  • Robert Leland, Superior Transportation Inc.

 

Crane Operator Safety awards were also presented during the SC&RA annual conference. This award was presented to 13 certified crane operators who exhibited exemplary work achievements while accumulating 10,000 consecutive man-hours and recording zero accidents and incidents. Winners, representing six different companies, were:

  • Christopher Miller, Robert Miller, Thomas Ryan, and Cary Stockin, Chellino Crane Inc.
  • Randy Barnes, Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental
  • Glenn Marvin, Imperial Crane Services Inc.
