SC&RF Establishes James Lomma Legacy Endowment Fund
June 2, 2026 - The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Foundation announced the establishment of the James Lomma Legacy Endowment Fund during the SC&RA Annual Conference Closing Night Awards Dinner on April 24, 2026.
The fund was created by Jennifer Gabel, daughter of James Lomma, to honor her father’s legacy and support continued investment in the crane and rigging industry.
James Lomma was a recognized leader in the crane and rigging industry and received the SC&RA Golden Achievement Award in 2014. He was widely regarded by peers as a figure of integrity, compassion and principle. Throughout his career, he invested in emerging ideas, contributed time and resources as a volunteer and worked collaboratively to help shape industry regulations.
He was known for navigating complex challenges with diplomacy, showing perseverance through adversity and focusing on service rather than recognition.
The James Lomma Legacy Endowment Fund is intended to preserve and extend the values associated with Lomma’s career, including integrity, compassion, service and a commitment to excellence. The fund will support workforce development, scholarships, grants, training and research aimed at advancing safety and growth in the industry.
“The SC&RF is on a great path forward. The establishment of the James Lomma Legacy Endowment Fund is another positive gesture that helps ensure continuity of investment into workforce development, scholarships, grants, training, and research that help drive industry health, safety, and growth,” said Joel Dandrea, CEO of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association. “Jimmy Lomma would be proud and honored by this action as industry passion is a huge part of his legacy. He never cared about the recognition or what he got in return.”
