August 2, 2016 - During its July board meeting, the Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) elected four new officers. These individuals, who will serve two-year terms, join Josh Cilley, named SEAA president in April.
David Schulz, president of Schulz Iron Works Inc., was elected vice president, industry representative. He has held numerous positions on the SEAA Board since 2007, and in 2017 will become president-elect, to succeed the current president.
Carrie Sopuch-Gulajan, president of Construction Insurance Agency Inc., was elected vice president, associate representative. Sopuch-Gulajan has served on the SEAA board of directors since 2011, and currently leads the 2017 National Convention & Tradeshow Committee.
Remaining as treasurer is Geoffrey Kress, vice president of Gardner-Watson Decking Inc., and president of G&G Distributors Inc. Chris Legnon, senior sales manager at Cooper Steel Fabricators Inc., was named secretary.
In addition to continued efforts to establish a network of SEAA/NCCER Ironworker Training Units and Assessment Sites around the country, the board will focus on ironworker recruitment and retention projects during the next term. “I look forward to drawing on the tremendous steel construction experience and business acumen of the new SEAA officers as we look for innovative ways to engage the next generation of Ironworkers,” said Cilley.
