Skyjack Parent Makes Staff Cuts

August 29, 2008 • According to CBC, Linamar Corp., parent company of Skyjack Inc., Guelph, Ontario, confirmed this week it is trimming 400 to 500 more people from its staff of 12,000, due to tough times in the auto and construction equipment industries. The company laid off 300 people earlier this year.

Linamar has plants in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Hungary, Korea, and China. Crystal Roberts, communications manager for Linamar, told CBC that 7,000 employees and 22 of the company's 38 facilities are in Guelph, so the largest impact will be felt in Canada. Roberts said the layoffs will be temporary but did not give a recall date.
