Skyjack Shares Plans for Volvo Telehandlers

March 19, 2008 • Pending a deal being finalized with Volvo for its VR-Series telescopic handlers, Skyjack, Guelph, Ontario, has developed a strategy for incorporating the telehandler line into its product offerings. Dave Stewart, vice president of sales and marketing for Skyjack, shared details of the plan with Lift and Access last week at ConExpo.

Stewart said the company intends to keep the Zoom Boom and VR product lines separate and will call the series the Skyjack-VR telehandlers. These models, which currently consist of the VR-642, VR-723, VR-843, VR-1044, and VR-1056, will be painted in Skyjack's classic orange and gray colors.

 

He added that Skyjack fully anticipates being in production with the VR-Series by the end of the third quarter. The facility Skyjack took over to build the Zoom Boom telehandlers and Skyjack's new 40- and 60-foot telescopic boom lifts was larger than the company needed, Stewart said, which will make it easy for the company to fold in the VR-Series.

 

Distribution has yet to be determined, although Stewart shared that one product line will be offered exclusively through a dealer network, while the other will be available through both dealers and rental operations.
