Snorkel Bumps Up Staff, Production
March 16, 2008 • At ConExpo, Snorkel International, St. Joseph, Mo., revealed that demand for its aerial work platforms is soaring since it was acquired by the Tanfield Group last summer and announced that a program is now underway to increase output by more than 60 percent, compared to 2007.
Further investing in its Midwest operations, Snorkel is adding a $7 million leading-edge paint plant and other machinery to maintain quality standards while improving build efficiencies. About 100,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space was added in Kansas, while “smarter working practices” have been implemented to free up more of the existing facility and reduce machine build times.
Snorkel's staff also has increased 25 percent in the last six months, rising from 400 employees to more than 500 at its two Kansas facilities. The company plans to add another 75 workers by early spring.
