February 20, 2008 • Snorkel International launched an updated and enhanced version of an old favorite at The Rental Show last week. The AB46 articulated self-propelled boom was an innovative product in the UpRight range of aerial work platforms and when UpRight's parent company, The Tanfield Group Plc, bought Snorkel in August 2007, the model was integrated into the Snorkel line.
The AB46 has a working height of up to 52'9” and 24'7” outreach, with a 5-foot, 140° jib. Maneuverability is key, with a multi-functioning boom operation thanks to two separate pumps, and a tight inside turning radius of 1'11.6”. Other design improvements include stronger jib weldment for greater abuse tolerance; traditional pinion and swing bearing for swing drive replacing integral worm drive; continuous top rail platform; 72" x 39" floor area and fully proportional controls for all boom functions.
Snorkel also launched a new U.S.-built heavy duty scissor lift at The Rental Show, the SR3370. Previously built in

James Adkins, a longtime Snorkel dealer, won a Harley at the show.
"This trip to Vegas, I was down quite a bit at the tables, but Snorkel changed my luck • I am definitely ahead of the game now," Adkins said. He won a Harley Davidson FLHTCU Ultra Electraglide with a big bore, 103” motor kit. Built for cruising, the bike came with fully fitted chrome accessories; exclusive custom-made Snorkel decals and a custom-stitched Snorkel seat.
“This party was a great way for us to thank our customers and to start the celebrations for Snorkel's 50th anniversary,” said Frank Scarborough, president of Snorkel.
