Snorkel Lays Off 100 Plant Production Workers

September 15, 2008 • Last Friday, Snorkel International laid off 100 workers at its facility in Elwood, Kan., according to the St. Joseph News-Press. The number is 20 percent less than the Tanfield Group, Snorkel's parent company, expected to let go last month.

Off the 100 employees, all were plant production workers. Tanfield also laid off about 100 workers at its plant in the United Kingdom. Dan Jenkins, a spokesperson for Tanfield, told the News-Press that the layoffs are a reaction to decreased demand for Snorkel's aerial lifts.
