Snorkel to Halt Production for One Week

October 9, 2008As part of Tanfield Group's revised growth strategy, which it enunciated last week, the company announces that it will implement a one-week shutdown of the Snorkel International production facility in Elwood, Kan. The shutdown will take place the week of Oct. 27, and it is expected to bring production capacity in line with current market demand while also preserving the installed capacity and skilled resource.

Snorkel's customers will not be affected during the week. Its Customer Care team and sales force will be operational during the period.

“The aerial work platform industry continues to face some significant challenges, including the chaotic financial markets, a significant downturn in the construction sector, combined with uncertainty caused by the U.S. election process. These factors are impacting at a time coinciding with the quietest season in the U.S. AWP calendar,” the company issued in a statement. “We are therefore taking appropriate action now, to proactively safeguard our business in the face of these adverse conditions • whilst ensuring we maintain the capacity, capability, and skills to deliver the future success of Snorkel International in the years to come.”
