Southern California Crane Fair Brings Together Kids, Young at Heart
December 14, 2010 – Over the weekend, the first-ever Crane Fair took place Dec. 11 at the Fairplex in LaVerne, Calif. The event brought together the Southern California crane community for a day of fun and industry camaraderie, and the carnival-like atmosphere included nearly a dozen cranes, booths, vendors, food, games, face painting, balloons, custom cars, and toy cranes on display for kids and kids at heart.

Event organizer and sponsor Brian Doonan of Maxboom.com was pleased with the turnout. "Business in the area has been so bad I thought we needed something to lift everyone’s spirits," he said at the Crane Fair.

Kid's activities included games, face painting, photo opportunities, and balloons.
Along with the kid's activities, cranes of many makes and models were brought in by local crane rental houses and distributors. Products from Coast Crane, Coastline Equipment, Marco Crane, Altec, Hiab, Tadano, Crainco, Capistrano Crane, Inquipco, and Mr. Crane were on hand. Additionally, Nixon-Egli, Ontario, Calif., had a new Link-Belt 80130 rough-terrain crane on display, which was awarded “Best in Show."
Other exhibitors included Lift-It Manufacturing Co., Ropeblock, and NCCCO. Bob Hornauer, NCCCO, said the Crane Fair was great for the local industry.
"Let's hope this becomes an annual event," he said.

Cranes and industry exhibitors rounded out the Crane Fair.
Maximum Capacity Media co-promoted the Crane Fair, and Guy Ramsey, president of the company and publisher of Lift and Access, Crane Hot Line, and Industrial Lift and Hoist, attended the event. He said Doonan should be proud of the event's turnout and achievements. "The entire Southern California crane community owes him a big thank you," he added.
