Southern Industrial Constructors Don Pink Hardhats for Breast Cancer Awareness

October 16, 2012EMCOR Group Inc. reported that more than 230 employees of its Raleigh, N.C.-based Southern Industrial Constructors subsidiary and those of its client GE Aviation donned EMCOR Pink Hard Hats and assembled into the shape of a giant pink ribbon, the international symbol of breast cancer awareness, in a “Call to Action” in support of Breast Cancer screening and awareness as part of EMCOR’s “Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today” Campaign.  The event was held at GE’s plant in Durham, N.C.

An official EMCOR Pink Hard Hat was presented to Michael Wagner, plant leader, GE Aviation, by SIC President and CEO, John Wilson, as part of a special ceremony.  Also as part of this ceremony, all SIC employees removed their regular hard hats and replaced them with EMCOR Pink Hard Hats in a "Call to Action" for millions of women and men to "Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today."

"We’re delighted to be participating in EMCOR’s fourth consecutive year of conducting this national initiative," Wilson said. "Our employees wear hard hats on a daily basis for personal protection, and we’re proud of their commitment to wear an EMCOR Pink Hard Hat throughout the month of October to raise awareness for breast cancer and how to protect yourself by getting screened."

Wagner said: “GE Aviation is pleased to team up with SIC and the ‘Protect Yourself’ Campaign in this particularly memorable and visual way to increase awareness of breast cancer screening. The Pink Hard Hat initiative is an innovative way to remind women and men to make an appointment for their mammogram."
