Southwest Industrial Rigging Announces Acquisition, CEO Transition
Southwest Industrial Rigging announces acquisition by Woody Weld and names Cody Ward as CEO to guide future growth.
Southwest Industrial Rigging, the Southwest’s long-standing crane, heavy rigging, machinery moving, and heavy haul specialist, has been acquired by Woody Weld, who will serve as chairman of the board. The transition also introduces Cody Ward as chief executive officer, leading a new leadership team to guide the company’s next phase.
Founded more than 45 years ago by Harry Baker, Southwest Industrial Rigging has earned a reputation for safety, professionalism and the ability to handle projects of all sizes. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, with additional branches in Tucson, Flagstaff and Farmington, New Mexico, the company continues to serve clients across the region.
“Acquiring Southwest Industrial Rigging is one of the most meaningful things I've done — not just as a business decision, but as a commitment to a legacy. Harry Baker was a dear friend, and what he built over nearly four decades, starting with just a single crane in Casa Grande, is nothing short of remarkable. His philosophy of 'Do It Right the First Time,' his dedication to safety, and his vision for what this industry could be are values we shared deeply and intend to honor every single day. Harry had a clear picture of where Southwest Industrial Rigging was headed, and we consider it a privilege — and a responsibility — to carry that vision forward. This isn't just about growing a business. It's about making sure everything Harry worked so hard to build continues to thrive,” said Woody Weld, chairman of the board.
Cody Ward added, “Southwest Industrial Rigging presents a tremendous growth opportunity, and our team is energized by the work ahead. With the strong support and investment of our ownership, we are well-positioned to expand our capabilities and deliver exceptional service to our clients across the region.”
The company’s updated leadership team includes Yuko Nagura as chief financial officer, JB Buksa as vice president of operations, Jason Kelley as vice president of sales, Joe McDermott as vice president of business intelligence, Manny Zamora as vice president of product support and Tyler Dewey as director of safety.
Southwest Industrial Rigging emphasized that the transition will maintain the dependable service customers have relied on while investing in team growth and resources to meet evolving demands.
