System Material Handling Opens New Distribution Center

April 1, 2009 – Due to continued growth and an ongoing effort to improve service to customers, System Material Handling (SMH), Olathe, Kan., has opened a new distribution center in Port Coquitlam, B.C. The 12,500 sq foot warehouse and offices are located just east of Vancouver and will stock over 10,000 part numbers.

 

SMH will offer service from this warehouse to British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, and Yukon and the Northwest Territories. Customers are now able to order from any of the company’s  Canadian facilities through its ecommerce website IRMN or via phone and fax. 

 

The additional Canadian warehouse will allow customers to consolidate their orders and help to lower inventory levels and reduce freight costs. 

 

SMH now has seven distribution points in the U.S. and Canada covering more than 800,000 sq ft and stocking more than 200,000 part numbers. They include the Olathe, Kan., headquarters, which also serves as a manufacturing, assembly, and kitting facility.  Other warehouses are in Illinois, California, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina in the US and Ontario in Canada.
