TAUC Releases Craft Jurisdiction Guide

November 28, 2007 • Although the number of jurisdictional disputes within the construction industry has fallen dramatically in recent years, they do still happen. When they occur, too often they result in lost workdays, poor job morale, lower productivity and most significantly — they leave the construction client with a negative impression. To help prevent these problematic situations from arising, The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC) has released a publication that union construction professionals can use to more accurately manage work assignments and prevent jurisdiction-related disputes.

The publication is called the TAUC Craft Jurisdiction Guide and it is the only available resource where all union craft agreements and materials related to jurisdiction can be found in one place. TAUC worked with the jurisdiction departments of 14 international unions to develop the reference tool, which can be downloaded via free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. The guide contains bookmarks to all the most recent agreements and a directory of international union representatives.

“TAUC's Craft Jurisdiction Guide not only brings all the relevant material related to craft jurisdiction together for the first time, it also provides the information in an electronic format that is key-word searchable and can be easily updated to incorporate new agreements,” said Stephen Lindauer, CEO of TAUC. “It's a resource that every union construction professional can use.”

The TAUC Craft Jurisdiction Guide can be found at www.tauc.org.
