Terex AWP Introduces Online Service Training Course
November 17, 2008 – Terex Aerial Work Platforms,
“Terex AWP believes it is extremely important to get training information into the hands of its customers,†said Steve Gooding, director of national accounts support and factory training, Terex AWP. “Our online service training program is a new avenue to reach our dealers and provide essential, valuable training opportunities 24/7, anywhere there is an internet connection.â€
The online service training course begins with a 12-lesson basic electrical theory program. At the end of each lesson, the technician can participate in a quiz to review the information. Technicians who participate will need a computer with internet access and a registered Genie account. The technician must pass the final exam by at least 80 percent. A printable certificate of training is provided upon successful completion of the course.
“From a service technician’s perspective, this is an exciting, efficient new training tool for customers,†said Steve Howe, technical training manager at United Rentals, who completed the basic electrical course. “Terex AWP online service training is a simple, interactive online classroom that enhances knowledge about servicing Genie equipment.â€
In the future, Terex AWP will introduce a second course, hydraulic theory, followed by specific product courses, all available online. All online service training will be offered to technicians of Terex AWP dealers free of charge.
The online service training course is an addition to the numerous training programs Terex AWP provides to its customers in the field or onsite at the factory. Terex AWP also continues to offer its online “Train the Trainer†course. This online option allows aerial work platform operators to learn the presentation skills needed to become trainers. The web-based training is especially well-suited for employers who need to train employees in remote locations or do not have time to attend a course in a classroom setting.
