June 18, 2008 • Terex Demag held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new logistics center in Zweibrücken-Wallerscheid, next to the all-terrain crane plant and the Zweibrücken, Germany, airport. Work began at the end of April, and the construction for the center should last about six or seven months. The center is scheduled to start operations in November or December 2008.

Tom Riordan, Terex chief operating officer said the new logistics center, is “a big step towards the future” with the company's crane production operations in Zweibrücken. “Our objective is to pick up the pace of all-terrain and crawler crane production as quickly as possible, in order to respond to the strong global demand for our products," he said.

“This is an important measure that will help us to keep satisfying our customers' needs and to remain competitive on the international market,” said Alexander Knecht, Terex Demag managing director, who also said he was glad that the city of Zweibrücken gave the company its full support. “Now we can create the space we urgently need for new production halls at our premises in Wallerscheid (all-terrain cranes) and Dinglerstraße (crawler cranes),” he said.
