Terex to Cut 200 Production Jobs in Germany
June 5, 2013 - Terex Cranes announced today it will cut up to 200 production jobs at its facilities in Germany until 2014. The location most affected is the company’s small to medium-sized all-terrain crane production facility in Wallerscheid. The job cuts, said a Terex spokesperson, are the result of measures put in place five years ago, when the global economy was suffering a downturn. The measures taken have not been sufficient to keep the facility competitive in the long run, he explained.
The company’s large AT and crawler-crane operations have been affected by the economy over the last five years, but not as drastically as its smaller AT product line. To protect the remaining 1,650 jobs, current bonus payments schemes will be realigned, he said, and the company has begun talks with the German works council in order to find an acceptable solution for both employees and the agency.
