The Professional Development Conference Features Simulator Rodeo

September 29, 2006 • The Professional Development Conference, hosted by the North American Crane Bureau Group, Altamonte Springs, Fla., will feature the 2nd Annual Crane Simulator Rodeo and several guest speakers. The event will be held in Las Vegas, Nev., November 13-17, 2006.

 

The 2nd Annual Crane Simulator Rodeo runs all week. Those competing in the rodeo can choose between either the mobile hydraulic crane simulator or the overhead bridge crane simulator. The winners of the rodeo will receive trophies honoring them as the respective World Champion Crane Simulator Operator.

 

There will be five guest speakers at the Professional Development Conference, each of whom will be speaking during a different general session. Lined up to speak are: Skip Ohman, training manager for the Crosby Group; Keith Butts, branch manager for Universal Engineering Sciences, Inc.; Steve Greene, vice president of Workforce Development at NCCER; Ken Fry, senior safety engineer, and Phillip Yow, safety engineer, both of whom are with the Cal/OSHA Crane Unit.

 

Sessions at the conference will cover a number of critically important topics such as operator training/certification, new technological advances, and safety standards development and implementation. Equipment addressed includes mobile cranes, overhead cranes, hoists, aerial work platforms, lift trucks, and rigging gear, among others.
