Tour, Hands-On Sessions Highlight Sling Conference

April 19, 2011 — Among the topics presented at last week’s Sling and Rigging seminar, hosted by Lift-It Manufacturing, Los Angeles, Calif., were fall prevention, sling inspection, and sling safety. The event was held April 12-14 at Lift-It’s headquarters.

Synthetic Sling Safety was presented by Mike Gelskey, CEO of Lift-It. Mark Langford of Capital Safety, Houston, Texas, discussed the ABC’s of fall prevention and provided a product demonstration. Harley Gist of the Rigging Institute, Knoxville, Tenn., presented a hands-on session allowing participants to determine load weight, centers of gravity, and calculated sling tension.

The two-day conference also included a Train-the-Trainer program and a tour of the Lift-It production facility.
